Plyatsok
Ukrainian Fruit Pie
Ingredients
Dough
- 2 sticks butter
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp sour cream
- 2 eggs
Regardless of plyatsok type
- extra butter for greasing pan
- breadcrumbs
Apple Plyatsok
- 4-5 macintosh apples (sub honeycrisp if unavailable)
- 1 jar apricot jam
- lemon juice
Peach or Plum Plyatsok
- peaches or plums
- peach jam
Blueberry Plyatsok
- blueberries
- blueberry jam
Instructions
- Mix dough ingredients
- Put in fridge for 5 minutes (no need to let rest first)
- Grease bottom of plyatsok pan (size: 13x9x2”) with butter
- Take out dough. Split evenly in ½
- Roll it out, lay ½ on the bottom
- Spread it with the jam
- Sprinkle unseasoned breadcrumbs (helps the apples to stick to the jam)
- Shred or slice the fruit and then put it on
- If using apples, sprinkle some lemon juice so it doesn’t discolor
- Take ½ of dough, roll it out, put it on top
- Poke all over the place with a fork
- Bake at 325F for 1 hour
- Let it cool off
- Cut into squares
- Add powdered sugar ONLY WHEN SERVING
